Canon Printer Troubleshooting
Check the indicator lights on your Canon printer to see if they are blinking in a specific pattern. Then check your manual to see if there is a corresponding error code. Follow the instructions given in the manual on how to eliminate the associated problem. Proceed to the following troubleshooting guides if it does not display any specific error codes.
Make sure the power cord is properly plugged into the power outlet. Then check that the USB cable is firmly connected to your computer system. Open the top of the printer and do a quick visual inspection to see if there is a piece of paper jammed inside the paper tray.
Restart your PC and then try to print something new in case the computer has stopped recognizing your printer or the print queue has stopped responding due to a software error.
Go to the "Control Panel" section of your computer, and then tap the "Printers and Faxes" option. Click the "Add a Printer" button if your Canon printer is not listed. Follow the instructions on the screen to have your computer run a test to try to detect the printer.
Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Canon printer software and navigate to your web browser. Open the official website of Canon Printer and download the latest version of the driver software.
Open the Canon printer software on your system and choose the "Properties" or "Options" tab. Click "Test Alignment" or "Clean Printheads" depending on the software version. Wait for the printer to finish its alignment, and then print a test page. Check to see if the test page printed correctly, then contact Canon for repair or replacement options if it still doesn't work as expected.
